Cartes de Visites 1859 - 1870
Calling Cards

Points to watch:

Flimsy Card, with Square Corners and Simple Backs
Men still wearing cravats, but bow ties, beards and top hats are starting to appear
Ladies wearing very wide skirts often with hoops, and ladies start to show their ears from 1864
also their silhouette likened to a dinner bell.

Young Martha Cartwright, my husband's great, great grandmother, born 1828.
I am pretty sure those are her parents above Joseph Cartwright and Ann Stafford, both born in 1795.
I can't decide whether the top photograph is a younger version of Joseph. I know it was an earlier photograph from the lack of detail on the back.
