The Cheshire, Church of England Records 1538-1907, was indexed in partnership with another organization. The indexes are available for free on Record Search but the images are not currently available due to contractual agreements between the two parties. They will be available at a future date when there is an authentication process that allows us to identify specific groups and individuals.

Sounds as though one of the sources is playing up about copyright.

As soon as they become available again we will be telling everyone.

This is an on-going project & the parts in red & blue are items which have not been fully investigated so far.

Keep looking at the Tameside website for regular updates.

The titles of some films lead to confusion when their contents are examined.

eg. Holt BTs 1600-1869 Film: 1655830 with….869 images…would be expected to contain records between exactly those dates.

In fact it actually contains 1600-1849 and says it will be continued on another film.

So I have written it in the notes below as Holt BTs 1600-1849 1869.

This applies to a number of records.

On many films frames are repeated more than once – probably by the photographer hoping to use different exposures to enable difficult pages to be read more easily; so I have included them all to help the viewer.
